Open Registry Editor

Step 2

Go to the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Step 3

Using your account name and password, double-click the DefaultUserName entry, type your user name, and then click OK.

Step 4

Double-click the DefaultDomainName entry, type the domain name, and then click OK.

Step 5

Double-click the DefaultPassword entry, type your password, and then click OK.

Step 6

Restart the Server

DefaultPassword doesn’t exist

Step 1

Click Add Value on the Edit menu.

Step 2

In the Value Name box, type DefaultPassword, and then click REG_SZ for the Data Type

Step 3

Type your password in the String box, and then save your changes.

Please also note that if no DefaultPassword string is specified, Windows will automatically change the value of the AutoAdminLogon key from 1 (true) to 0 (false), which will disable the AutoAdminLogon feature.

What you need to do is click Add Value on the Edit menu, enter AutoAdminLogon in the Value Name box, and then click REG_SZ for the Data Type, Type 1 in the String box, and then save your changes.

Bypassing the AutoAdminLogon process

If you need to bypass the AutoAdminLogon process, and to log on as a different user, hold down the SHIFT key as you are logging off.
